waiting on approval for 751
Hi everyone ! I am going on a year waiting for my 751 to be approved to remove my conditional green card (I have the 2 yr) it’s expired obviously, but I did receive the letter from USCIS extending my card for 2 more years until I get an approval for the 10yr.
I want to travel to Mexico, but I am wondering if anyone else has traveled out of the country with no issues with an expired GC. anyone ?
share your experience pls.
trump has made things a bit stricter so I’m just taking precautions.

you can definitely travel ensure to carry the expired gc with you and check your online account daily to see under documents that’s how I see they doing now schedule your appointment and don’t notify you until the letter pops in the mail@itzel gonzalez

i travelled to India with the expired greencard and extension letter. makesure you carry them both. only one doesnt work. My boarding was denied in india because Schenzen countries doesnt approve extension letter (as per Luftansa staff). thats the only issue i faced. Nothing at immigration.

@S D were you able to eventuatally board your flight to EU and onwards to USA with the expired GC and 48 month extension?

you can go anywhere and come back with it but make sure your extension documents are attached to the expired green card. I have traveled with my extension 4 times. the last one was this past December

@itzel gonzalez You should be fine! make sure you carry both expired green card and the original extension letter that you received in the mail, not the one printed out off your online account. Have they shorten the validity of the extension letter to 2 years now instead of 4 years (48 months)?

@S D sad to hear that.
Did Lufthansa get you the middle east carrier ticket for travel to the US or you had to buy on your dime.
Asking coz i have travels coming up with Lufthansa and may be i will need to switch to an alternate airline. Thanks.

i had to buy it @Jee Wah not to say very expensive as it was right before Christmas.
Still fighting with Luftansa for my refund. They said I cancelled the flight. i was literally in the luggage check-in line for an hour and they denied boarding because i dont have schenzen visa and they dont approve extension letter.

@S D @Jee Wah for transit, Lufthansa accepts a valid US B1/B2 visa in such a situation.
