Visa expires while doing AOS
hello community, so what if my stem-opt expires after submitting I-485? will I be in trouble without valid visa while waiting for my i-485 to finalize? i will have valid visa when I file i-485 but it will expire soon after, before AOS finalize. thanks!

if you have a pending i485, you'll be in authorized stay and should not accrue any unlawful presence. I will suggest you check on uscis policies to confirm again, however I felt I saw that before

you will be authorized stay once you file I 485 same with us we did and obtained EAd after that

@faryal faisal did your visa also expire while waiting for i-485 to finalize? how long did it take for you to obtain EAD after you submitted your i-485?

@adam smith yes, our visa expired, it took 3 months after submitting the application

@faryal faisal that is great! did you start using it right away or did you wait until you received the Green Card? were you on OPT?

@faryal faisal - so after filing I-485 can stay in US but can’t work until revive EAD ? is there any additional applications need to file between getting EAD ?

no RFe is for the evidence you need to provide to uscis. it’s not about leaving the country
