Those were contract employees that provided only back office support. They were laid off because USCIS has moved from paper to electronic filings & don’t need as many employees as they did a few years ago.

@Vanderbilt Dartuling What do you need explained though? All contractors working with USCIS will be laid off once everything is digital. Although, USCIS does need more employees, contract or not contract, it definitely undoubtedly needs more employees - at least 3 times of what it is right now. Motherfuckers take 24-36 months for a simple application and then lay off workers too. What a joke this whole system is
