VAWA: Waiting but not broken
I know how heavy this process can feel. I’ve been waiting 3 years and 4 months for my VAWA approval, and 10 months for my EAD renewal. Right now, I can’t even work because of the delay and some days, it honestly feels overwhelming.
But I want you to know this, we are not forgotten and we are not defeated.
This process tests our patience, our faith, and our strength in ways we never asked for. Many of us survived abuse, rebuilt ourselves from nothing, and are now being asked to wait in silence. That alone shows how resilient we already are.
If today feels hard, that doesn’t mean you’re weak. It means you’re human. If you feel tired, frustrated, or discouraged your feelings are valid. But please don’t let this season convince you that your life is on pause forever. It’s not.
One day, this wait will turn into a testimony. One approval will open doors we thought were permanently closed. One moment will make the struggle make sense.
Until then, hold on, keep going, lean on God & speak life over yourself.
We didn’t survive abuse to be broken by paperwork delays.
Our time is coming. And when it does, it will be worth the wait.

Still waiting, July 2022. ChatGPT says I might get an answer anytime soon, in the next 3 to 9 months, lol. Doesn’t change anything, but my anxiety is a little easier after reading that.

@Aries I with your receipt you can still be working where you are working… like my own EAD go expired September 2025 but I’m still working with my company….My EAD 11 months still waiting for approval nothing yet
EAD Renewal I (I-765) A recent rule allows for an automatic extension of up to 540 days (about 18 months) for some timely renewal applicants,
I was thinking maybe is because of my country is on list of the country Partially band that’s why they’re slowing down the application or put it on pause… i’m from Nigerian 🇳🇬
I submitted my vawa case May 2022…. i’m still waiting for the approval of my vawa case… still waiting for my approval for my work authorization and travel documents….. guys we all have to believe in God because he will answer our prayers in Jesus name. Amen 🙏

@Aries I submit your receipt notice (i797) to your office. if you dont have rhe extension. i have been working with my extension since june 2025. my ead renewal is pending since dec 24. it is well

@Odogwu Indy lost my job and the new jobs are refusing the accept the extension letter.
I’m also Nigerian & from what I heard the partial ban also affects EAD renewals I have been waiting 10months now no update, I even contacted congress man still not update from their end:

@ob o I went to get my drivers license they said they need to verify with USCIS first so I have been waiting on the SAVE verification since the 18th but no update.

@November 2022 you can go to school without your approval, my friends who have prima facie are in nursing school and even get student loans (FASFA)
