File your vawa if you have a case as soon as possible, once you get your receipt, have them hold i485 in abeyance, hopefully if they do that, your ead stays intact while your vawa is being processed

I don't recommend that.vawa takes years.you have to proof and humiliated yourself and yes.your EAD and AP gonna change cause your visa is gonna change.Endure yourself be strong .how long is gonna take you for have your interview?

plus the hold of abeyance is not garanteed.consuot with a lawyer

Please don't apply for vawa! you think your husband drive you crazy. uscis will do worse. it may you 2 to 3 years maybe be more.

I have both my psychologist and doctors report, it’s already been years I don’t think anyone can do any worse than where I am at both mentally, emotionally and physically at the moment. I don’t care if vawa takes years as long as I am free and healthy. I am tired of the anxiety and panic attacks of when the next abuse will come.

Whatever you do, make sure your mental health comes first. It's easy to say 'stay' but you should know what you are going through whether or not its too much. The papers will come but at what cost? I have been encouraging my family member to leave a very bad relationship but she thinks she need to stay, I know that she is suffering inside but won't say it aloud. It's a long wait for VAWA but it should help you escape your spouse. Contact an experienced lawyer for VAWA and get professional insight on this. I wish you all the best on your journey.

Wow. C’mon guys, are you really suggesting a victim of domestic abuse to stay with abuser because of the interview? You really need to keep your suggestions to yourself sometimes. I understand that some people will do anything to get a green card, but your recommendations are sick @M. W do what is best for you. It might take longer but your safety is your priority.

@Sophie, they are speaking from their personal experience. Some have no other way to survive and are in n out of shelters.

There is a difference between sharing the experience so it could be critically evaluated and just saying “please don’t apply for vawa”

my vawa got approved 5 months ago, and I still can’t travel. but every case it’s different! I just can tell you that I personally didn’t know about vawa benefits. for me , VAWA it’s justice in the all meaning of the word !

and my timeline, Submit 131,756,360,485 November 20 2018 Biometrics Feb 2019 Card produced 3 months later I360 VAWA approved august 2020 EAD card sent out I485 Interview schedule April 6, 2021 I485 pending decision

I hope so 😭😭 because my 180 day extension on my EAD expires in February. so I'll be out of a job!

yeah ikr. I asked a congressman. they contacted uscis the same day I asked them for me. but they said since it's week of holiday they probably won't reply till January
