I don't know what kind of school you got admitted to, but I believe you should be good if you submit your Prima Facie document, which also qualifies you for grants if you apply through FAFSA. The school should not require you to have a work permit to enroll.

Yes, your lawyer can go ahead and file I-485 and I-765 to go along with it which would be classified under the C09 category. Current processing time for the C09 Working Permit (I-765) is between 5months to 10months for most cases. You could also expedite the I-765 but, you would need to attach supporting documents to explain the reason behind the expedite request.

@Gill Bates its a nursing school i submitted my vawa application and my Pf ..but their legal team said they need the outcome of the application which means they want the approval notice..if i have ssn and working permit they will accept me

@C Fox Your lawyer can still file it now. Your lawyer just needs to attach the receipt from the I-360/VAWA to go along with the I-485 and I-765. Talk to your lawyer to file it as soon as possible then you can expedite your work permit after that.

You don't need the work permit to attend school I just graduated Nursing School in Feb. All you need is the Prima Facie, I didn't need financial aide but I had a friend that access financial aid via the Prima Facie

I went to a college in Florida, did 3 yrs study in Nursing graduated in Jan and did the NCLEX in Feb and past it without any state id.

@C Fox Did you pay the filing fee when you applied? Is your spouse a Green Card Holder? If your lawyer requested a fee waiver for your i-360 application or if you were married to a green card holder, you may not receive an EAD card C09 until VAWA is approved, even if you submitted i-485 and i-765.

Thank you, I'm so sorry you are not able to proceed pending you get those documents. Did you tell them that you are in the process and maybe they would allow you a provisional acceptance and that would allow you to start school pending the docs become available

@Nik Nelly i did i even sent them my vawa application and prima facie..and their legal department reviewed it ,i waited for like 2 weeks and then they need the outcome which is the approval notice ..and i applied for Fafsa already and called the school if they received anything ..she said they couldn’t acces it because I don’t have Ssn and even if i get Fafsa they still wouldnt allow me to enroll until the approval notice 🥲

Oh I see the drawback is due to the lack of a SSN. You are going to need it to access student aid. Hush I didn't go through FAFSA. I was blessed to have been sponsor by a family I had worked with in the past. Don't give up on your dreams, God will clear the obstacles at some point.🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
