by the way they can never deny you medical in America even if you don’t have a green card…I had a surgery 2 yrs ago it was an emergency surgery …I didnt have Medicaid but the surgery was done…and I was offered some charity insurance which I believe most hospitals have…my bill total was $25.000 it was all cleared.

that would have been proof of abuse as well and tou can go to the hospital still they'll treat you and find other means to have the bill covered or write if off

@waiting gaaaam. You could have called the police and go to the Hospital. That supposed to be a clear proof of abuse and it could have facilitate your VAWA Case and get approval quicker.

@Chichi Chilembo im in Pennsylvania its a commonwealth state I don’t know if this is the reason they denied my medical insurance application.they told me i don’t have a status yet. its been about 4 months ago and im still suferring,im at the DV shelter still.,i can barely use the hand which causes me to get terminated from my previous job ,my performance wasn’t that good after the in incident . when it just happened my hand was numb &swollen i was still going to work and tried my best and i thought everything would be fine. now i cannot even use it when im taking a shower and im always in pain,my hand is always so hot. i cannot even sleep sometimes. the shelter gave me a form to apply for financial assistance at the emmergency room near my location ,they were asking for my 2022 tax papers,i just got my EAD last year and this year will be my first time filling taxes. this pain is just too much man🥹

go to the hospital and tell them that you can’t pay and that you are a victim of domestic abuse. usually we get really sensitive when things like abuse happen in the ER. worst case scenario, you will be able to pay what you can towards the hospital bill until it’s done or you can be eligible for medicaid

@waiting gaaaamme forget about collections for now. You can deal with that later. like someone said you might be able to get charity to cover the payments. your health is the MOST important thing. Get to the ER asap explain your situation and that you are a victim of DV, tell them everything that happened and get a copy of the doctor's report and add it to your VAWA application and send it as additional evidence (more evidence for your case) the hospital bills would not affect your case in anyway. Just go to the hospital pls and if there is a way you can relocate so he does not know your location pls do and cut off all contact from him. As much as possible avoid contact with your abuser and protect yourself

@waiting gaaaamme The healthcare professionals can only offer you help but they can't force you to do press charges without your will. They do, however, must report abuse to children and seniors and also those that are vulnerable.
