I did my medical 3 weeks before going to my interview. You don’t know when they are gonna schedule you for an interview. I’d say just chill out and wait for USCIS to take the next step.

Ps: I had all my vaccines. I did blood work and urine test only. If you don’t have your vaccines updated, go ahead and go ahead and do it as it can take time and money….

@M p my lawyer told me that we will wait for RFE for the medical. But, you should make sure that your shots are up to date (especially COVID vaccine). it's been month since I was approved and no change in my status. Some people who got approved after me,already have their status changed

@s s ok ty. I’m up to date with my vaccines etc so I will just wait. but did your attorney contact uscis when you’re i360 was approved or you just wait? my attorney was only responsible for my i360 as my i485 was held in abeyance from my marriage. I was really hoping all the money I use to retain him would have him complete the process with me but after my i360 approval he said he needs more money to continue with my case. so I’m pretty much on my own moving forward.

@M p i'm affraid that all lawyers arr taking advantage of the situation and they are charging for everything but there's different rate just for I-360 and for I-360 and I-485. From what I learned, in your case, you HAVE to notify USCIS that your VAWA was approved

@M p @Mrkvica M. my attorney even wants to answer my call acting I have to pay him , he asked me for 500 $ for applying for eAD c31 . I told him thanks , I don’t need it .

I paid my attorney to go all the way to end with me. She was amazing and so sweet throughout the whole process! She showed so much excitement during my interview prep and when I got approved, she sent me the most beautiful email congratulating me on my green card approval! She kept all her promises and the money I paid for her services, I would’ve paid again and again. @M p You don’t have to do anything else after approval. USCIS will contact you with a letter asking for something else such as medicals, or interview letter asking for medicals upon interview. Not sure with your situation though. It is not my place to say what you can or you can’t do based on your i485 being held from your previously marriage. I could give to you my attorneys information or you can go on with yours. It is always safe to use legal help.

EAD C31 comes automatically after approval. I have never had to pay a penny for all the EADs I’ve got from immigration. I got my first one in April of 2021, then extension after applying for another one FREE OF CHARGE, another one valid for 2 years, and now C31 coming automatically after approval. My green card was approved 5 days ago.

@s s so I thought I paid for that too. I always stay in status with my work permit so that wasn’t an issue. I had a work permit before I even started Vawa. mine is c09 category. I even got a 5 years work permit weeks ago. I just didn’t know my attorney would ask for more money to continue. a good attorney is always a plus. mines suck. I did all the work. everything. i even wrote my own affidavit that was submitted with my Vawa application. I told him to request uscis to keep my old i485 in abeyance. I went through all that abuse and still had to do all that. I’m so upset he wants more money but I know God brough me this far and he will take me to then with good results.

@s s my only concern is if u have to let uscis know that my Vawa is approved to start working on my green card application.

@idk I revceive my approval days after like 7 days. I do not have a work permit under c31 category. my work permit is co9. I’ve always had a work permit even before Vawa. so because uscis held my old green card application in abeyance ( meaning they didn’t have me filing a new one and just witch it from i130 to i360) I was always able to obtain a work permit through that. so my work permit is not from my Vawa application but from my pending adjustment of status. I receive a five year work permit weeks before my Vawa was even approved. so this is where my attorney is trying to get more money because initiallly he didn’t file my i485 so he is saying he was only responsible for my Vawa and now that it’s approve I’m on my own or I pay more . I paid over 5 k to him and everytime he would apply for my work permit I paid an extra 500. I was so over it that my last work permit renewal I did my self.

@idk 🙂 🥱 I applied for my last work permit my self and also applied for advance parole. both was approved. I just receive my advance parole documents yesterday. I don’t think I want to use it though. I just want to be done with this case. I wish I would just get an update on my green card application now.

@M p I am sure you will hear soon, the process time varies for 485 due to différents causes. my I360 showing « new card produced » it been 10 days, friend on this group told me to chill and wait, however Inam concerned because I think the status need to be change and my lawyer need to receive approval at least so I can get my peace of mind you know what I mean, did you I360 show the Same status « new card produced » and hO long you waited after that to recieve EAd c31 on hand ?

@idk no mines showed “name was updated” even now. but within 7 days my attorney said he got the approval in mail. cards take time to be shipped. I already have my work permit so that wasn’t my case. if your card is under c31 and it’s being produced then your Vawa is approved. unfortunately uscis updates sometimes delay and it’s weird. sometimes you are approved and nothing is updated online. because if I did not receive my approval via mail I still would be wondering what “name updated “ means.

@idk I do not have a work permit under category c31. my old green card application was held in abeyance so all my work permits are co9 as if I was adjusting through marriage. I didn’t have to wait until my Vawa was approved to get work permit. I had my woke permit this entire process and each time I would renew through my old green card application

@M p thank you for replying! I think I will ask the lawyer tomorrow what is next step she had cases as mine. I think in your cases you already have an old green card application so they will just send you medical soon and then you go from there. my I485 shows : request to reschedule because we didn’t go interview and lawyer saved the application and I was happy with it. so what you I485 show

@idk 🙂 🥱 my i485 still shows my last interview date. which was through marriage. I went and told them what happened and that I filed for Vawa. and also that I am asking them to keep my old application active and that’s what they did. so I’m waiting to see how soon they request Medical etc and if it so happens I have an interview I just have to go by myself because my attorney is no longer representing me since Vawa is appved and I don’t want to pay more than that 5 k plus.

@M p just read everything and go by yourself! they said they didn’t ask about any abuse stuff! did your lawyer ask A lot of money ?

@M p so, from what I understand, your spouse filed for you I-485 and that is held in abeyance. Am I right? You tried filling thru marriage first, right?

@M p you are asking right question and on good place. I am trying to explain to you that I read that there is difference when your spouse files I-485 for you and then uscis holds it in abeyance and then there is situation when spouses never filed I-485.

@idk 🙂 🥱 vaccines are MMR, COVID, TDAP, Flu (I think flu season is over so don’t worry about this one) hepatitis B, and a few other that I will have to look over my medicals to tell you.

@M p Unfortunately I see too many people being fooled by lawyer when it comes to this VAWA process. Question: Did you apply for VAWA all together with I485? Being married to an US citizen gives you the privilege to apply for everything all together instead of waiting for vawa approval like others married to Green Card holders, for example. It sounds like he is trying to get money from you.

@idk 🙂 🥱 find a medical office licensed with immigration to get your medicals done near you. Just blood work, urine, blood pressure and a quick physical assessment with the doctor. If anything comes out positive, you will need to get treated for that or if your TB test (which will be the blood one) comes back positive, then you will have to do a chest xray. Did you have your pneumococcal vaccine as a child?

Sometimes that vaccine in people can give a false negative in their results.

@s s did each of them need at least two shots ?

@s s i did TB it comes negative! I don’t about pneumococcal! I thought you have to be 65 to do that! I don’t think I can prove it from childhood

No, you don’t nees that vaccine. It was an example because in other countries they will give that vaccine as a child split in 2 doses. The only one needed for 2/3 shots are COVID (which you can have johnson single dose or PFIZER 2 shots) and hepatitis is 2/3 shots given in so many weeks apart.

all you can do is wait and see if it changes or if your c31 arrives in the mail. If not you can contact them after 21 days I think

I already recieved my RFE medical before I apply for vawa idk if it still valid I will talk with the lawyer this Friday so she will tell me what to do if we can send medical soon or wait ! how are you doing with your case ?

@idk 🙂 🥱 if they need anything, they will contact you and ask for medicals as a RFE. How long ago did you apply for VAWA? My I485 was approved 7 days ago. I went for my interview prepared with more paperwork that was asked for in my interview letter. Since I was arrested in 2018, I had all the paperwork to show them I am in good terms with the law now, specially being almost done with nursing school holding a job at the hospital for 2 years now. It was approved the next day after my interview date. I am waiting on my green card to be delivered in the mail. Hopefully soon. Can’t wait!

@s s Wowo those are he t news! I am doing respiratory therapy school! yes so I applied vawa 2021 June! I recived I693 (idk) for medical in April 2021 we neverreply to that, the lawyer said after vawa approved!so maybe we will send medical soon since we are lady have the RFE how long you wait from approval of vawa to green card interview ? did the interview was easy! I feel you you must be so excited and nervous and shocked ? wow I am sure you will get it soon on mail. maybe in couple days you will tell us good luck everyone I have green card on hand 😜

@idk 🙂 🥱 it is a great career to do anything in healthcare! traveling opportunities everywhere in the country! maybe you won’t even go for an interview and they will just ask for the RFE for medicals and approve your green card. My vawa was approved in November of 2023, they sent the notice for interview in January and got interviewed last week. So, all together I waited 4 months after approval. The interview was all about my I485. Yes or no questions. Straight forward without saying anything else besides yes or no unless she asked me to explain something. She asked if I was still married and I said “legally separated “. The immigration officer asked if I had proof of it and I said no, she said okay, but asked when my marriage was over and I said it was hard to tell because so much happened between me and my ex. I went through all the emotions when my vawa got approved. I will possibly cry when I see my green card in my mailbox. That means a lot to me specially after going through so much abuse. That means freedom. No more fear of being denied. Hopefully it will be soon. I will definitely share my story to let people know that their time will come and to not give up!
