USCIS Expedite Request (Humanitarian) – Timeline & Chances?
Hi everyone,
I recently submitted an expedite request (I-130) to USCIS on March 15th based on humanitarian reasons (security situation, safety concerns, and a U.S. citizen infant involved).
I wanted to ask — from your experience, how long does it usually take for USCIS to respond to an expedite request?
Also, do humanitarian expedite requests actually get approved in practice, or is it rare?
Would really appreciate hearing real timelines and outcomes from anyone who’s been through this.

it is rare only in extreme cases and it took 5 months for us to hear back

five months? wow. so what’s the point?
we are in a war zone without shelters around. is this rare enough lol?

yes i think yours definitely should qualify but that's my opinion i can't talk on uscis. ours was definitely not severe that's why it was denied but we wanted to try anyways. but idk if that changes the rate in which they will respond to you, it could still take months to hear back sadly. we even had multiple inquiries from house of rep and the senator..

I've been waiting for a response for three months and nothing. I heard it's difficult to get accepted, but it doesn't hurt to try.

Submit that expedited request with the support of your petitioner's congressman so that USCIS approves it quickly. I submitted one for my I-130 on September 24, 2024, and it was approved on December 17, 2024—less than 3 months

Hi, I already got a reply yesterday. The expedited procedure was received on January 12, 2026. And I received a response on April 7, 2026. I hope to God you receive yours soon.
