US Passport Procces @Djibouti
Salam everyone. My toddler and his mother have their interviews coming up soon and I am wondering if I should start my son’s US passport application now or once they make it to the States. My history consist of living in the United States as a US citizen for over 20 years. So, is it necessary that I apply for my toddler’s US passport now prior to their interview date? My goal is to get them to the States as soon as possible, then apply for my son’s US passport in hopes of avoiding staying in Djibouti longer than necessary. For the recent families that went through Djibouti’s embassy, what was your experience with your children’s US passport process?? #Djibouti #Yemen

you can't apply for your under 16 children without green card or at least i155 stamp upon arrival

can’t you apply for proof of citizenship now if you’re a citizen? I did this for my American son because I’m born in Canada. he’s dual now. I just provided proof of my citizenship and that he’s my child. not sure about your country but this was easy for me.

oh I might retract what I said… I was born in Canada which made citizenship easy but not sure if that’s the case for you in the US.

@Abu Omar CRBA is what you should be doing. Your child is automatically a US citizen because you have resided in the US as a citizen for at least 5 years. The passport will be processed at the Djibouti embassy. How come you have an immigrant interview for the child? Did you file an I-130 for your child and it was approved?

Hey @niks o, that is correct. Applied an I-130 for my now 2-year old son and received approval. Upon further research, it seems the Djibouti embassy may deny my son a US visa (even though they approved his I-130…). My initial plan was to get his US passport processed once he is in the States with me, but it does not seem like a feasible option now.
