US embassy vs Consular processing
I need your help. 🥹We got this message from USCIS “On page 8 of the I-130 petition, you marked that the beneficiary will apply for adjustment of status in the United States (US). However, evidence suggests the beneficiary is currently residing outside the US. Did you choose this option in error? If so, does the beneficiary want to apply for her immigrant visa abroad at the US Embassy or US Consulate? If it was not an error, please let us know. “ ❓So the beneficiary is outside of USA, but i don’t understand which one should I choose: US embassy ot US Consulate? ❓Is the processing and timing different for these two? ❓Do you think this is going to prolong our processing time? 😭

I don’t think you need to select whether it’s the embassy or consulate - they will assign your case to the one that is closest to you geographically. eg people applying from Manchester in the UK would go through the US consulate in Manchester. I am in London so I am going through the embassy. I don’t think at any point I had to select which institute I want. It seems they are being nice to you and allowing you to correct a mistake rather than flat out rejecting your case or let you deal with the aftermath of the incorrect processing. if you are outside of the USA you need embassy/consular processing.
