Unsolicited Evidence
Yesterday I sent a copy of my husband's W-7 IRS application for a TIN along with his approval number from the IRS. Today when I checked my progress, it had changed from 'taking longer than expected' to 2 months. What does this mean? Any similar experiences? #unsolicited

@Lolo Duru how did you send it. is it on your account or physically sent

It means nothing. It didn’t change because of what you sent. The time frame will continually change, going down, going up, and several times it will say taking longer than expected.

@ FAITH & HOPE I sent it as bobnafide evidence of our marriage because his attorney had to submit his application along with my tax returns, proving that we are indeed married. I uploaded the documents using the tab in the documents section.

Thanks for sharing. I did it on the App "Inmigra USA" the community of Immigrants in the United States. inmigrausa.com There are immigration lawyers and free collaborators. Stay up to date on news of interest to the Latino community. Search Inmigrate USA. I chose the Florida community, it looks like they are starting now, so I recommend you choose Florida. Busca inmigra USA el app del inmigrante, de verdad es muy buena tambien. Thanks!!!

@Lolo Duru what documents did your husband need to apply for his TIN?

@Mellica G we used the W-7 form from the IRS website. There is also a list of approved attorneys on the IRS website that will help you file if your spouse is overseas. It took about 6 to 8 weeks but totally worth it and needed for a joint bank account and filing taxes together.

@Lolo Duru yea I know that it’s the W7 form that’s needed but what evidence was needed along with it?

@Mellica G An attorney assisted my husband with completing the W-7. He then asked for a copy of my 2023 tax return and then he submitted both documents to the IRS. The attorney selected option E (spouse of US citizen) as the reason for filing, used my mailing address and listed his contact information in the Agent section. A few weeks later, the IRS mailed me a copy of my husband’s approval letter that had his new TIN number on it.

Hi! you commented on my post. I went on the IRS website and there was list of locations in USA and abroad that accept documentes for w7 but I have not seen a list of lawyers that would help you comeplete a w7. Can you elaborate?
