You can still apply for a J-1 waiver even though your J-1 ended years ago. The first step is filing Form DS-3035 with the Department of State. One common option is a No Objection Statement from the Indian government, which is handled through the Indian Embassy or Consulate, but it’s only possible if your J-1 wasn’t funded by the U.S. government and wasn’t subject to certain restrictions. If No Objection isn’t available, other options like hardship or IGA may apply, especially with a pending VAWA case.

I am not sure where you are from , as of December 9, 2024, India was removed from the U.S. Department of State's Exchange Visitor Skills List, meaning Indian citizens in most J-1 programs are no longer subject to the two-year home residency requirement based on that list; however, other reasons (like government funding or medical training) can still trigger the rule. like I said you should want to check because so many countries were removed from that requirement a year ago . like I said I am not sure where are you from but I searched your last name and it says it comes from India . even though first , search in google is your country is still in the requirement skills list for that 2 years rule.( Even though gorverment funding or medical training are always subject to the rule . what happens if you are subject to ? well you have to contact your embassy in your country because they are the one that has to make you a “No Objection Statement” from your home country government , this means it is like something saying they approve you stay or come to the USA without going back home . ( this is the easier waiver ) there are like 5 waivers for J1s . How to Apply for a Waiver (General Steps) File Form DS-3035: Apply to the Department of State for a waiver recommendation. Submit Your Narrative & Evidence: Get Home Country Support (if applicable): Obtain and submit a No Objection Statement from your government. Department of State Review: They make a recommendation to USCIS. Be aware if your home country refuse the no objection statement so you will have to have to do other type of waiver could be hardship J1 waiver ( proving why it would be hard to leave US) and you will have to send evidence for that (like colleague , family , work). more information here : https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/study/exchange/waiver-of-the-exchange-visitor.html
