traveling with advance parole
I wanna share my experience so it can help someone in the same situation. I got my advance parole approved on feb 1, status change to advance parole produced on feb 2. I got the document on the mail by feb 4, was super fast. I went to Mexico (I live in a border city) on feb 6 for a day and when I came back they took me to secundara revision and they ask me to go to the office and I had to wait there for like an hour because not everybody knew what to do with the document. an officer ask me why I stay more than the six months that I should and I just told him that I was on an adjustment of status and he told me that he need to cancel my tourist visa because I’m not a tourist anymore, he went and tell the other girl that I didn’t overstay because I was adjusting my status and then they wait for another oficial to stamp my advance parole and they took my fingerprints and my picture and gave me another document. they just told me that next time I need to show the two documents and my passport and that it was valid for a year and that was it. it was a very stressing hour but someday had already warn me that this could happen so everything was ok at the end.

thanks for sharing, so the problem was that you show your tourist visa instead of advance parole ?

A DtFeb 8, 2022
no I show both my visa and my advance parole and my passport, the problem was that the people there weren’t that familiar with the advance parole document

@A Dt so there is no issue if we adjust our status after 6 months stay. I also have tourist visa. i adjusted my stays after 1 year. we can use advance parole right.

A DtFeb 8, 2022
you have to adjust your status before your tourist permit expired
s
sam singhFeb 8, 2022
@A dt you mean to adjust status within 6 month stay (I94 validity) .
A
A DtFeb 9, 2022
yeah just that your receipt notice from your AOS is before the date that your i94 expired, that way you didn’t overstay
s
sam singhFeb 9, 2022
@A Dt but I applied for AOS after 2 years through vawa.

i dont know if they will consider that overstaying, I think you should ask a lawyer before traveling with ap
