Traveled on Advance Parole
Hey guys, wanted to share that I traveled on the combo card for 3 weeks (to 2 different countries) and returned yesterday with no issues at all. They didn’t ask me any questions here at JFK they just took me in to a small room to register my documents and released me in less than 2 minutes. Was so worried about it especially because im on asylum while married to a US citizen, but all went well. :)

l
lucia luciaFeb 26, 2022
so that means with parole you could go to any country of your choice like Dubai and come back
G
G KFeb 26, 2022

thank you for sharing your experience

G KFeb 26, 2022
@Mashpeace i would ask a lawyer since each case is different but for me it was very easy!
M
Mashpeace TansakoFeb 26, 2022
Ohk , so the travel depends on ur case ?
G
G KFeb 26, 2022
yeah in the sense that if you were here illegally at one point or have a record or anything then that might jeopardize it, but otherwise i think is fine
T
T AFeb 26, 2022
It's not from case to case, the minute you get advance parole you can travel.
G
G KFeb 26, 2022
yeah but i referenced the above because lawyers advise not to if you were illegal or have had a criminal record, otherwise you are good to go
T
T AFeb 26, 2022
I'm telling you from personal experience, you will scare people who were illegal at one point and won't use there advance parole. Advance parole is given for a reason.
G
G KFeb 26, 2022
that’s fine i just dont feel comfortable telling another person to go which is why i said ask your lawyer. i just shared my experience to help others who are as worried as i was before traveling. my post is not scaring anyone at all, calm down
T
T AFeb 26, 2022
Then it's better not to tell anything. I am calm, but I was in that situation and I'm telling you your comment can be scary to people who were illegall at some point.

waiting …Feb 26, 2022
@T A, it’s better that people know and be cautious and do their own research than to just go and get stuck when coming back. i agree with G K comment that they should consult a lawyer. if you’ve done criminal activity or have been illegal, there is a chance they won’t let you come in. so always better to be on the conservative side and consult with a lawyer for these things
mercy LindseyFeb 26, 2022
is Dubai or London your home country??? did you travel to your home country with an assylum ?
G
G KFeb 26, 2022
@waiting… yes that’s all i meant is it’s always better to check than regret. i checked with 2 lawyers and both told me im good to go :)
G
G KFeb 26, 2022
@mercy no neither is my home country. i cant go back to my country on asylum
mercy LindseyFeb 26, 2022
Okk… that’s good atleast you could travel somewhere without a hassle

how did you get U.K visa?
G
G KFeb 26, 2022
@M A A i applied back in December here in NYC and sent my documents, got the visa approved within 2-3 weeks.
M
Mashpeace TansakoFeb 26, 2022
you applied uk with ur advance parole ? or u already have ur greencard
G
G KFeb 26, 2022
I applied to the UK for a tourist visa and traveled on my advance parole. they approved me after providing my employment letter/bank statement/marriage certificate etc
M
M A AFeb 26, 2022
@G K, wow! no invitation letter?
G
G KFeb 26, 2022
nope i just put the reason that i wanna visit for a few days with my spouse (US citizen) and they gave me a 6 month tourist visa :)
M
M A AFeb 26, 2022
wow
M
Mashpeace TansakoFeb 26, 2022
so u went for biometrics and all that ?
G
G KFeb 26, 2022
yeah i did biometrics then i mailed my documents to the center here in NY (including my passport). 2-3 weeks later they sent me back my passport with the visa. there was no interview
M
Mashpeace TansakoFeb 26, 2022
Ohk
M
Mashpeace TansakoFeb 26, 2022
so does it mean u can only travel with advance parole with another country visa ? don’t get it
G
G KFeb 26, 2022
so the visa is to enter the UK and the advance parole is to return back to the US. so yes you need your passport, the visa, and the advance parole to go and come back
M
Mashpeace TansakoFeb 26, 2022
Ohk got it now
m
me & youFeb 26, 2022
well nice for the info G K. my own fear and concern is, what about someone that had overstayed before he applied for i485 through Vawa? although I think once I get it, I will prefer to just apply to Canada and also UK which seems saver God forbids anything…. any one here or knows anyone that could ve such notion here???
G
G KFeb 26, 2022

G
G KFeb 26, 2022
