that is not true it’s not risky You can get Refugee travel Document and travel while your green card is pending ( legally you are allowed to do that) many people get afraid from traveling while their green card is pending but if you are a asylee you have no issues because the purpose of travel document to give you the authority to travel and come back and personally I did that last month and I have no issues coming back

here is my experience with using the Refugee travel document( Form I571) without the green card So I came last month from Turkey ( transit in GERMANY-Lufthansa airlines ) and I went there for vacation for two weeks the trip was really smooth I got the visa from the Turkish embassy in Houston I’ve been waiting for my green card for two years now and still pending so I couldn’t wait more and I went with the RTD only I did not have any issues even when I came they took me to the inspection room it took only five minutes they just ask me if I got my green card yet I told him still pending then The officer stamp the RTD and told me to have a great day 😀

if you don’t have an asylee Status and ur asylum case still pending it’s better not to travel unless u have emergency situation then you will need to explain the reason And it’s critical for you to travel

i have a question for you first because the response here got me confused. there are 2 travel document. there one USCIS give you when you are a asylee that look like passport with 1 year expiration and the 2nd is a paper for reentry in the US. so are you already a asylee or are still waiting for the asylum interview?
