To all F1 students. curious question??
Do i still have to be in status (F-1) under OPT when my married based greencard is being processed by USCIS ? Married to a US citizen.
My status expires September and i did put it my application for a greencard.

No you don’t. once you filed for AOS you are technically not on F1 status again but the good part is if your benefits you request is denied you can still come back to your F1 status provided you are still maintaining it.

Just because you filled AOS doesn't mean you're no longer on your F1 status. You're still on F1 until you either, stop going to school and go out of status(in some way you're covered by your AOS application) or you actually get approved for a green card at which point you go from being an F1 student to a green card holder. If there's nothing serious standing in the way of you staying in school, then it's best to stay in school until you get approved. And then if there's a hiccup in your case and it gets denied you can still fall back on your F1.
