I’m seriously confused. What was your February post about? What was that approval about? What has been approved? and What has been denied?

@Miss M honestly I don’t understand why you guys think it approval . because my update says denied. the approval was my i360 from February. let me ask does anyone have a sample of what the decision would be if they denied it on the last decision update if you share your timeline?

I’m trying to process this unfortunate situation. both cards work and travel permit were approved just recently for another 5 years and now denied. I’m very frustrated and confused

They sent a RFE to you, did you respond it? Maybe they did not receive your RFE the reason why, they denied your Case

@Michael A. you were sent an RFE which you never responded, what is your logic in it? The reason why you have an online account is to be checking your updates and if you had a lawyer, every copy of document your lawyer sends or receives from USCIS, you must have a copy just in case anything happens. when you get the letter of denial it will state why it was denied. However you are still lawfully present in the US until the expiration of your work authorization. That gives you ample time to readdress your case. You must be solely invested in your case than your lawyer and should always be more concerned rather than relying solely on your lawyer. The fact that you pay a lawyer to represent you doesn’t mean they have your back entirely mostly these immigration lawyers. If you never got the RFE and saw it on your online update, you should have reached out to USCIS before it was denied to let them know because you have about 81 or so days for your response to get to them.

@bridges 5 I understand you trying to render your support in anyway which I appreciate but that wasn’t what I said. I stated that a notice of RFE was received all documentation was submitted but I didn’t receive any notice for my attorney that USCIS is notifying us that they received the documents

I already worked on the document needed for my RFE several months ago with an update on my declaration as well!

so it means they never got the document. Because once they get the response your account online should have updated to response received. It’s always better and safe to not just have a copy on your own file but also upload a response online while you send a hard copy via mail to them.

USCIS don’t send a confirmation email that RFE was received. They get to notify you via your online account when it updates to say RFE received.

so I was waiting for my i485 to be updated too, then yesterday unfortunately got an update as denied

@Zivah King that’s what everyone is saying dude! I was never thinking of denial as my reality. because my attorney told me multiple times that I have a very solid case

listen you are conflating issues here which I see a lot of people here doing. Your Vawa was approved right? and you were waiting on your I-485. Did you get an RFE or interview notice for your I-485? Based on my understanding it’s your I-485 adjustment that just got denied and if I am correct and you never got an RFE for medical or Interview notice or you got them and suppose to say you did respond. Then the thing is you were denied based on something on your I-485. So wait for the Letter to get to you before jumping into unnecessary conclusions on your own or via our responses. That’s my honest take. Finally there’s nothing that’s not fixable. You already have an approved Vawa so your lawyer did a good job.

@Michael A. just wait to get your deny letter, and find out what is the reason, after that you could file 290 B to repen your case , I know it will cost more money and more stress ,all of us here , are like you and we’re not an attorney. I feel you when you said you couldn’t sleep since you got your update.

@Thank you Lord you have done it again I agree with you, it is weird. I noticed when one’s case gets to the local office, they don’t update they receive response to rfe. But if @Michael A. Vawa was approved, I find it hard to believe they will deny both 485 and an approved vawa at the same time since it’s different offices that’s handling both cases. Here is how I believe Uscis attends to our cases. 1st they will approve 360 and pass on 485 to the right office. if they don’t approve 360, automatically 485 can’t move beyond that stage. @Michael A. why don’t you go online and check the status of each application separately? put in your vawa number and see what the status says, thereafter check for your 485. @F A , I have a question! my 485 was transferred to field office, they sent me a rfe for medical which my attorney and I didn’t get any notice and uscis online status didn’t showed anything about this rfe , unfortunately I found out on last day of rfe deadline, was RFE requested. So I did couple of things; request for info pass , inquiry by me and attorney through the uscis call center and online, however 4 days after deadline I mailed them my medical form with copy of my 485 form and cover letter which I explained all of things which happened like after my VAWA approved I kept calling uscis and inquiring through congressman, uscis website, 3 times talked with tier 2 officer, all of the response said case is pending, if we need something will notify you , now last day of rfe just shows rfe .An officer called me for my infopass , said we are not giving an appointment for this issue, I said to him I mailed my medical to them two days ago ,he said that is great you sent your medical form wait for a month. two days later of this conversation with officer, i got a response from uscis to congressman, and ask me yo send them my medical form even time was over and copy of rfe was attached on email , at same day I mailed them it and next day usps confirmed they get it in field office. now 9 days passed and nothing shows on uscis online status. can you help me for it

At the end of the day, it’s Michael’s case and as a community let’s support him. Don’t judge him. I was also confused about his February post but again, I’m here to support him and what he says now matters more than what he said in February. Now the case is denied. Let’s stand on that.

@Hope Hope I believe you’ve done the right thing. I don’t think there’s any other thing you can do from your side. If they need anything from you, they will let you know. more so they won’t make a decision if your response is a couple of days after the due date given. keep your fingers crossed and see how it goes.

This can be fixed, its likely something with the RFE response. what was your RFE about. let's start from there. You have to do it yourself or look for another lawyer. once, you receive the denial letter then you can appeal ASAP. Your case will be approved

@Michael A. it seems like you were denied due to not sending what they asked for. looking at your timeline, in February they sent RFE and it seems like you didn’t respond back.. have your attorney appeal and send them the RFE and hopefully you should. d good

Hey guys, thanks so much for the support and helping me through my frustration. I wasn’t responding because I literally closed my eyes since 8 PM yesterday after getting the update. According to my app, an RFE was sent for more info in Feb 2024, but my I-360 was approved a few days before that. The RFE was updated and sent to my lawyer, and they said they sent it out on March 17, 2024. On April 9, 2024, the app updated to say “correspondence was received and USCIS is reviewing it.” Since then, no updates even when my EAD/AP got renewed. The last update was the denial decision yesterday.

And I’m still waiting for the notice to be sent to my attorney, but I’ve already filed an FOIA request because I’m too curious to wait on them. I want to know the reason for the denial and plan to find a more experienced and knowledgeable attorney who will take my case seriously, unlike my current lawyer.

@Michael A. I don’t want to imagine what you are going through right now. I think there are some glitches with your case. First of all, you said they sent a rfe after your vawa was approved right? From my understanding, any rfe after vawa approval will be for 485. 360 & 485 are different cases. So if you receive the rfe after vawa approval, that means it’s applicable to 485 and in most cases it’s for things like medicals, birth certificate, I-864W. If they request for any of these and you don’t provide, they can deny 485 not vawa. Honestly I wish I can say something to make you feel better but I don’t know what to say as I’m confused but I pray everyone of us here pulls through

@Michael A. wait for correspondence first and do not expect the worst. there is nothing that you can't fix. also 17,000 is a ridiculous amount of money. I would cap a payment of 5 grand. I know people panic but that is alot of money for immigration. These lawyers are like scammers once you have a consultation they play on your fears that is why you need to conduct your own research and not to put all your life in their hands. Good luck too. @Michael A. i did my own filing for both Vawa and AOS and was approved within 6months cause I took my time and researched. Then it all fell apart after expedition. Looking back I wouldn't advise anyone on expedition if you happen to have work permit..just hang on in there. They usually come after you. it's like a red flag for them and they will find something to use against you

at All, from indication on his timeline, his VAWA was not approved. He submitted in Feb 2021 and never received approval. Since VAWA denied, I-485 must be denied too along with other attached benefits. @Michael A. , you are still in states, get yourself together and continue to struggle for your desire

@lanim I’m sure you’ll get your notice soon! My situation was completely different. My attorney made a mistake in my declaration document, misrepresenting the timeline compared to the affidavit my friends submitted. Initially, my case was approved, but then I received an RFE. I assumed my attorney would correct their error, but due to incompetence and lack of attention to detail, they repeated the same mistake. I only discovered these errors after receiving my denial notice, which cited inconsistencies in my case as the reason.

@Hn Yes, I did. It turned into a major issue between my former attorney and me. At one point, she tried to shift the blame onto me, but when I pointed out her mistake, she realized that her case managers had messed up my case. Suddenly, her tone changed—she became calm and offered to help me file an appeal free of charge, likely because she knew I had already threatened to file a civil lawsuit for negligence.
