you should bring your original copy to go to local ssa otherwise you could end up waiting for months to get the ssn card, go to ssa website for what doc you need to bring

no, the original document means your GC and passport or DL, idk if Texas requires different documents than Florida, you can check online, I brought GC and passport to local SSA to replace my SSN

@Diana p if U filled your SSN during your filing U should get your SSN as soon as U get approval. I am waiting for my GC as we speak but I already received my SSN since overc5 days ago.

@Jennie . thank you !! that is very helpful - I’m really asking because we need the number for taxes so if we can get that as soon as the approval hits that would be very helpful !

@Diana p but U already have SSN? it's still the same, just that once your GC application is approved, Social Security will send U another card, removing the restriction that was placed on it when U got your EAD.

@Jennie . well the green card is for my husband and he is not in the states yet - we are in the process for the marriage visa and we are at the last step where he needs to just do the interview. that is mostly why I was asking
