Stigma of being undocumented while waiting for Work permit
I left my abusive husband and came to the shelter for help . according to them , staying period here is 45 days . yesterday, the housing advocate came knocking at my door, i opened the door she asked are you ....... i answered yes i am Xxxxx. instead this advocate taking me into a private room to ask me all questions, first thing she stood right in the hallway asking about my immigration status and asking me about my income. she knows other victims are here in their rooms listening because she talks very loud . Ooh my gushhhhh, i was uncomfortable, angry and i didn't know what to do . she told me i was not qualified for housing because i have no income which i agreed 100% . But for some respect sake , ask me in a private place. yesterday doing lunch while we all having lunch in the lunchroom , other women who heard her started to look at me like i did something. i am still not over it. i felt very bad .
Maybe i am over thinking, i want to ask if the advocate was professional.

@MWVawa2023 D good morning sorry u had to go through that. but question what area are u located I am also in the shelter from abuse and got my voucher after 3 months of being in there. and I am also undocumented. do you have any children that was born here?

@MWVawa2023 D no she was at all because this is a very sensitive subject and she need to be more mine full when it come to this subject omg I can only imagine how you feel.

@MWVawa2023 D Being in this country undocumented is a whole experience that tests each day the mettle of your strength. I can tell you had it not been for the grace of God I would have walked out of my mind. It's the grace and mercy of God that has been keeping me. So I recommend to you when in doubt, shame, fear, rejection,disappointment call upon him he will comfort your soul. It's all apart of your story and at the end of it all God will get the glory. Hold on it won't last always God will perfect the things that concerns you sooner or later it will all work in your favor. God is working it out for you. Hold on and don't give up!!
