Steps after Receiving Green Card
Hi all, I recently received my green card (2-year conditional) by mail and I want to understand if there are any steps I need to take/make. For background, I was previously on STEM OPT VISA and already working for a US based emmployer when I filed for the green card. I am aware that one of the changes I need to make is to update my Tax situation and with my employer and start paying for Social Security and Medicare. I have read online regarding updating SSN but unsure if I have to do it. Is there anything else I need to do in regards with my change in VISA status? (e.g. updating USCIS portal/informing my college DSO etc. ) Appreciate all the help! Hoping that everyone hears good news regarding their VISA this year! #GreenCard #I-485 #MarriageBasedGreenCard

I was on F-1 Student VISA (STEM OPT) before the Green Card and hence I was not paying SS and Medicare taxes (F-1 VISA category is exempt from those taxes)
