Starting a company (LLC) on GC based combo card
I received GC (EB1-C) based combo card (EAD and AP). I’m an executive software engineering manager. I’m thinking of leaving my current job and starting a LLC company immediately in the same field. Will there be any impact on GC processing? Will I have to file something with USCIS? What are the gotchas I should be aware of?

is your GC employer sponsored? what category is it?

EB1C. I thought only I-140 is considered to be employer sponsored.

@C K I’ve been looking into similar scenarios myself (EB1C - I140 approved 8 months ago waiting for I485). basically, you have your ead so taking on other employment is absolutely okay - however, if you get called to an interview or receive an RFE on your 485 you will need to demonstrate you’re still employed by your current employer or filed an I485J with your new role (which must fit the same job code under which you applied). for this reason, I decided to stick it out as the limitations and risk is quite high - assuming you’re also on L1A once you stop employment your L visa is also void meaning if for any reason your I485 is rejected you have to leave the country. this is my understanding from my lawyer but I can’t say this is absolutely accurate, maybe more best practice.

@Tim Id this article, put me more worried, I am in EAD, my L1A is expired last month, my AP is still pending… I got a good opportunity in another opportunity…. this article put me think twice to move…scary

@R V Yea. But it’s still good to consult your attorney for proper guiadance. Most I-485 would eventually be approved, so using that EAD/AP may not necessarily be a problem especially if it must be used due to an underlying non-immigrant status coming to an end.

Thank you all for responding. For now I’m working towards opening a LLC with my wife as owner.
