SSN “Valid for work only with DHS authorization”
Once the green card is approved, do we need to update the SSN without restriction as above?

@a T You definitely need to go to SSA once you received your gc. The number on your SSN stays forever but you’ll be given another card that no work label in it. SSA issues SSN card to immigrants with different status. one is “Not valid for work” another one “For Work Only “ and finily all USCIS citizens or green card holders has their SSN card with no labels on them. I am pretty certain that SSA issues those card with/without labels because they have a reason to do so. That being said if I were you I’d probably go to SSA office close to you and they will issue you a different SSA card.
