I think you only get your ssn of your i-765 (ead) was approved. If your I-485 was approved without the ead, you need to call SSA and setup an appointment. I see the ssn request field on the i-765 form but not on the i-485. There is a new version of the i-485 which you can then request your ssn but it just got released so I’m sure this is. ot your case. If I’m wrong, someone please correct me.

if 485 submitted after 8/9/2021 will have option to select ssn. Otherwise, you need to make ssa appointment for in-person visit if your 485 approved directly & no adjudication of 765. I just had my appointment today, hoping to get ssn in 2 weeks time
