When the forms are filled in they ask for tax forms to show regular income. The sponsor must have an income that's at least 125% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines (you can find this online for the sponsors state). The USCIS will consider all sources of income, including wages, salaries, and retirement benefits. It’s not clear if they count other types of benefits.
