@JJ
I meant do I need to get a new card?
J J 485Sep 20, 2022
you can ask them to remove the DHS message on it and send a ss card without that message

Thanks. Do I make this in person at the office?
J J 485Sep 21, 2022
yea or try calling

you only need to update whenever you change your status. let’s say you have a green card, you take ur card and ur old ssn to the ssa office then they’ll update you to a PR in their system and send you a new card with no restrictions but it’s still going to be that same number forever. once you become a citizen too you still need to go back to update ur status with them. it is compulsory!! but with ead you don’t need to cos it’s no status it’s just an authorization to work!!

I called and they won’t do it by phone. exactly as Jj J 485 said above, the number doesn’t change so why do I need to go through hours in line. the green card itself is proof of work authorization. I just won’t want to get into trouble.
