I'd pay for premium processing. as soon as your I-140 approved your I-485 starts moving towards adjudication. so as soon as you pay for premium uscis will start working on your I-485. @Law K if you don't pay and wait for them to review it without PP, you may miss your bus if the VB retrogresses again.

I am not sure whether they start processing I-485 application without I-140 approval or not but I do know it won't get approved without approved I-140. To be one the safe side, it's better to pay for premium I-140 processing.

Yes - I-140 needs to be approved before I-485. In other words, your I-140 will be in the way of your I-485 approval if you didn’t file them concurrently.

thank you folks! I’m going to ask my lawyer tmr to do it. on a side note, i wonder how are each I-485 case is processed. like are they tracked in a queue or somehow? or is it just a big pile of paper today and they look at things randomly

nobody really knows how immigration works. I see my I-140 been first in the line for 2 weeks. I don’t know if I’m gonna be the first one to be approved
