Service requested 131
A week ago, my attorney helped raising service request for my 131 for longer than normal processing time. No update yet but hopefully I can get any positive feedback from USCIS…

I also raised service request on December 04, 2023 and waiting for the decision. Your timeline is almost same like me.

what do you mean by service request? is this like request to expediate your case?
J
Jay DDec 11, 2023
Mine and my spouse’s i131 application was received on Jan 11, 2023. Can i also file for expediate processing? What is the normal processing duration?
Jun SDec 11, 2023
@Chocolaty Boy I hope we can get anything soon
Jun SDec 11, 2023
@Jay D Different from expedite request. Go to uscis website where they show current processing time. Then you will see at the bottom of the page where you can put your submission date in and automatically calculated date for your first available service request.

thanks @Jun S . i did not know about it. Mine and wife’s 131 was received on Jan 11 , boimetrics done sometime in March. however, biometrics were applied to our i131 much later likes wife’s 131 was updated with biometrics on Oct 26 and mine on Dec 01. 1. do you know what would be next steps? 2. what would be your guess on when can be expect AP to be approved? 3. i followed your instruction, will be eligible to file request dor Dec 19? What can we expect after filing service request?
Jun SDec 16, 2023
@Jay D The next step would be approval. This biometeric update used to be a signal of approval in near future, but things have changed recently and nobody can expect when would be the actual approval. Even in my case, 131 biometric update was done on Sep 26th but no approval yet. Regarding service request, I am still waiting for any response from USCIS. Sometimes they do actually help and lead to approval, but they usually give just general response like “case is delayed due to huge demand so just wait” sth like that. Frankly speaking, I don’t expect that much from service request but my attorney suggested this before proceeding to inquiry to local congressman. Once I get any response from service request, my next plan is to reach out local congressman for the help.

thanks @Jun S. i will raise service request next week. Could you please guide me about local congressman route. How to do it, and how it can help?
Jun SDec 17, 2023
@Jay D Go https://www.house.gov/representatives/find-your-representative. Type your zipcode and you will find your representative. Go his/her webpage and you can find service-help with federal agency tab. Type in your information and submit it.
Jun SDec 17, 2023
@Jay D type your zipcode, find your representative, go websit, under service tab there should be ‘help with a federal agency’.

@Jun S @Chocolaty Boy - hi there, did you ever hear back from service request? if yes, what did they say?
Jun SJan 23, 2024
@Chocolaty Boy Yes I got it back a few days ago and nothing special. “Due to workload factors not related to your case, USCIS anticipates a delay in completing your case. USCIS is committed to adjudicating immigration benefits in the order received and in a timely and efficient manner” It didn’t help. I was trying to reach congressman but they do not respond either. Meanwhile, my PD will be current in the upcoming February, so I decided to wait for 485 approval instead.

@Jay D same response what @Jun S said. seems like, raising SR is of no use. they send copy paste lines only.
Chocolaty BoyJan 24, 2024
@Jun S atleast your PD will be current. I wish you'll get GC soon & free from this mess.
