removal proceeding master hearing coming up
hi everyone, my removal proceeding master hearing is coming up at the end of March. I have an approved I-130 through marriage based petition, and I also have a clean record, never been arrested or even been pulled over. Does anyone have any advice on what I should expect? does my wife have to go with me to the court or can I just go alone? is it advisable to do it pro se or should I go with an attorney?

Omega % thanks so much for your response, this is definitely helpful. I don’t wish to adjudicate in court, I just want the case terminated. And I really hope it gets terminated at the master hearing. Do you know some reasons Judges may want to have another individual hearing even when the subject has an approved I-130 and a clean record?

I filed a writ of mandamus when my I-130 was passed processing times. It took 2 years

your i-130 was approved half a year ago, you should have filed a motion to terminate directly to court 6 months ago.

Thanks guys. for context, my attorney filed motion to terminate with court directly immediately my I-130 was approved and nothing happened. it look like they were clueless and for a big law firm, I was very surprised. Not sure if they didn’t just prioritize my case or they just aren’t capable. anyway I started bugging them every week this year and while I didn’t have any date for master hearing since the last date was indefinitely postponed, I got a letter from my attorneys from the court informing me of my new master hearing date at the end of this month.

@Olawumi O I didn’t get a NOID, I got NTA(Notice to Appear) and my initial master hearing date got postponed indefinitely about 3 years ago. I only just got a new date.
if I may ask, why do they want to terminate your status? Did you fail to cancel the condition on your 2 years green card?

Hi @wiz kid how was your interview? I’m in the same situation as you. I have an approved I-130 based on marriage with us citizen. My lawyer filed a motion to dismiss my removal proceedings a month ago and the government attorney has signed it but the judge didn’t sign it yet and my appointment for the master hearing is scheduled on April 25th 2024.
I would like to know more about your interview with the judge. thanks
