Reject After Ingest
I received a notice today stating “Reject After Ingest” for my Form I-485, Application to Adjust Status. The notice, dated September 20, 2025, explained that my application was rejected and refunded because my priority date was not current on the filing date, and therefore an immigrant visa number was not available. However, my situation is as follows: Filing date: October 30, 2023 July Visa Bulletin filing date cutoff: November 23, 2023 Final action date: October 15, 2023 At the time of my filing, I understood my priority date to be within the filing chart. Yet, USCIS has indicated that it was not current. The notice advises that once my priority date is current and a visa number is available, I may file a new Form I-485 if otherwise eligible. I would like clarification on whether the rejection was based on the Final Action Date chart instead of the Filing Date chart, and whether my application was considered timely according to the applicable Visa Bulletin for November 23, 2023.

For July 2025, USCIS indicated that it was the Final Action Date to be used. Luckily they refunded the money!

@Grace What God cannot do does not exist You were lucky that they refunded the money. I am sure that you submitted it by yourself without engaging the service of an attorney.

you definitely filed incorrectly. in July, USCIS instructed people to use the Final action dates table to know when to file. In October, you may use the Dates for filing chart as said in the website I shared above.
