Quit sponsor after 2 years
I left my sponsor after working with them for 2 years, pd not current yet(3 months behind). I had my interview a year ago, no update from my interview yet and is still in the field office. Do i need a new supplement j right now or can take my time to find a new sponsor? Will I have any legal complications if I don’t have a new supp-J with me or if I don’t have a new sponsor? Looking for suggestions and want to hear if anyone has been in similar situation.

@Sumit A you need a supp J! Sooner the better, when/if RFE sent you will need to provide that info! 30-45 days is your preferred timeline, wouldn’t suggest more than that! with the lawfully posts that you’re seeing, never know if you get another interview or additional request in RFE. better safe than sorry, since we’ve been waiting for so long. my 2 cents. (info source: lawyers, my friends in similar situation)

@Eb3 other is your employer fast food chain or manufacturing/plant? You got lucky, I don’t have that option.

did you apply with your sponsor through bdv solutions??
here firstJul 12, 2025
@Sumit A if your employer is flexible with rehiring you can quit but if they don't and you get an interview without supplement J that would be problem. I quit my employer after working for 1 year as they rehire ex employee. and got lucky as I got my i485 approved without receiving interview. if you quit make sure you've someone ready to sign supplement J.

@here first Did you move to the other state after quitting or stayed in the same place? Also what did you do after quitting? Did you do any skilled job after that? Did you say anything after quitting to your employer that you might re-join if you get interview or rfe?

which office you have? if it’s not a field office, you won’t get interview.

Sumit AJul 15, 2025
@anne smith still in field office 1 year after interview. No update in the case status even after a year.

maybe because you’re not current yet. They won’t do anything until your pd is current.
