Question about Form I-131 (Refugee Travel Document) and Form I-485 (Green Card) submitted at the same time
My question is: If my Green Card application gets approved before my Refugee Travel Document is issued, will my Form I-131 application be denied or automatically canceled? The thing is, even after receiving a Green Card, I still need the Refugee Travel Document because I cannot use my home country’s passport. Has anyone experienced this situation? Is there any way to avoid the I-131 being canceled in case the Green Card is approved first?

no it won't get canceled. it'll be processed and issued in due time (around 14 months on average)

I heard from some people that if you apply as a refugee for travel document and if your green card approved, while I-131 processing the system rejects it because you are no longer refugee you are permanent resident

I got my green card and refugee travel document both. I got my refugee travel document after 6 months of my green card.

I’m also waiting fory RTD, green card received already. But I also saw few times on forums and facebook, where uscis deny the RTD explaining that you are no longer an asylee/refugee

so, if they cancel it, how are you supposed to travel? for example, if your country of origin. passport is expired/lost and technically you are not allowed to go to your ambassy here in US? can't get it, honestly.

I guess, we need to use RTD for travelling everytime until we have US passports. Even though we receive our green card. As asylee and refugees we cannot use our original passport. So the visa stickers will be placed on RTD.
