Question about citizenship application
Hey guys, I had my permanent residency card through married. I’m about to apply for citizenship soon, but my spouse didn’t make enough in 2022 tax. Will that be a problem? I’m a permanent resident btw, is he still responsible for meeting the certain amount of tax requirements for me to get my citizenship? thank you.

@Maple wood this application is about you, so they're gonna want your tax returns and most like you must have file tax jointly with your husband, but it's not a problem. Good luck on your journey

@shanikay p Thank you so much. we do not have joint tax for past two years due to business reasons but we do share the same address on our tax returns. will that be a problem?

N400 application is basically about you. Even if you file taxes together. What’s more important is making sure you’re not owing the irs cos that’s one thing that proves ‘Good moral conduct’.

@Muhammad khan it was a 3 year rule base on marriage that's why they scrutinize your application, because they are still looking for evidence that you're still in a bonifide marriage. nonetheless good luck on your journey

@shanikay p it was bonafide marriage but now its in divorce… but still after 5 yrs rule they don’t need anything according to law its just giving stress to applicants
