processing time
I really don’t understand what is the process for the USCIS. I applied for the 1485 in August 2024, with BD May 2021, and still no respond at all. they say it’s first come first served and it is based on your location in the queue. there are a lot of cases who applied after August 2024 and with priority date 2023 and 2024 and got approved. the process is very frustrating and does not make any sense.

yeah my pd is 2016, applied in April 2024 , waiting over 300 days , I have seen cases with pd 2020 that applied in nov also get approved , so once we are in the i485 queue PD is a joke

@k k - that is so true. people applying and getting approved in 2 months or so as well while we are still waiting 😔

it’s just luck and mostly random. I think they try to do first come first serve but fail in a lot of the cases.

it’s not first come first serve - basically a stack of files gets dumped on some officers table or office (virtually). once those are completed the next batch arrives . where your office lands up and how soon the officer approves is totally luck based . consider you are on a freeway / border crossing and there are multiple booths - where you land (while it is a function of how soon you reach the crossing) . totally depends on which booth you land , number of people ahead of your , their processing and efficiency of the visa officer . this is a flow networks problem and does make it appear some get approved sooner, while some take longer . I also have a strong feeling (even if one’s application is current throughout the processing time ) that processing is also based on country of origin - there’s more scrutiny for people from certain countries and that slows their processing time .

is there any difference in processing time if some filed 485 from pakisan vs someone files from United States?
b
battling giantsFeb 13, 2025
@raza khan if you filed from Pakistan you most likely applied via consular processing and those who apply from US apply via adjustment of status. adjustment of status processes ‘faster’ than consular processing. I say faster because even the faster can take upto 1 year or 3 years based on where within US you apply from.

@raza khan if you filed from US, you are most likely AOS /485 and should have the processing time mentioned here https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/

the processing time mentioned on the page is a joke.
