prima facie determination letter benefits
Hi Everyone,
I applied for vawa in dec 2024 and received prima facie end of jan 2025. I was married to Green card holder so I can’t receive work authorization until my vawa is approved. I am currently living in Colorado and would like to know if i am eligible for any public benefits like Medicaid, food assistance (SNAP), or housing help in my state? If yes, how do I apply with this letter?”

@G K @M p yes u can it all depends on what state you live in! ask ur lawyer in some states u can get a driver license housing and food assistance .. now my advice to u is that don’t depend on the government because they might think you are someone who can’t afford and taken care of ur self (carga pública ) me personally never ask anything to the government so when the day comes to apply for my resident card they won’t question me about me living under any government benefits! just my opinion good luck to all!

U have to apply for a ssn. show them your Prima facie and tell them you need it to apply for FAFSA that's a valid reason to give u a ssn without a work permit. are you can make a FAFSA account and see what information they need. but to be honest it's not a good idea because they going ask about it in the interview one day they know what they doing giving out there prima facie. I give 3 of them I never use them now I have Green Card.
