its just legal marriage you cannot enter. if you are pregnant for your boyfriend, that's fine, but not your abuser.

you cannot submit new marriage documents while vawa is on, like court marriage.

You can get pregnant as long as the abuser is not the father. Btw be prepared to wait 3-5 years for your VAWA to get approved and finally get your green card, I hear horrible wait stories and some people give up after a couple of years. Your kid will start going to kindergarten by the time you get greened 😄

I was dating somebody else not too long ago after being apart with my spouse for over 3 years. I am trying to get a divorce, but my ex is just fighting me to stay married. I am married to a woman and she is pregnant right now. I don’t care. My vawa process is still pending and has been for over 2 years. I don’t make my relationships public at all.

exactly. you are pregnant @Mandy. Abortion is or may not be an option. am sure you want this baby. get divorced and wait for your vawa approval.

@Ricky why that long? The pregnancy changes the deadline? I’ve filled everything since July 2021 and received 2 prima facie, have my EAD and work permit. Started working 4 month ago and have an amazing job.

You can get pregnant with anyone INCLUDING your abuser. You don't even have to divorce him. Because every case is different and some people just don't have enough support or even a work permit to be able to leave. Divorce is hard when you don't have anywhere to go especially when you're stuck in an abusive marriage. ( No car, no driver license, no job, no friends..... ) but you can't get married until your vawa is approved.

please sign and share petition, we need to be heard, processing times need to be reduced.

@Mandy Miss but did you get your green card? Lmk when that happens cuz I know people wait many years cuz people keep abusing VAWA once their marriages fail so waiting times have literally tripled. Btw EAD and Work permit is the same thing.

so does it mean you can get married while waiting for approval but it doesn’t have to be legally married

legal marriage in court with marriage documents not advised while vawa is in process. or if you submit another marriage certificate to Uscis, if will nullify your pending vawa

@Aries. You can't get married until your VAWA is approved unless you don't want to pursue your I 360 anymore. That means you can't get married. if it's not a legal marriage it is not valid and that's not getting married.

so all this time I could get pregnant! most lawyers don’t recommend it tho
