Praise God We Got Through
Our process took some twists and turns but we persisted and finally got approved for the green card. praise God!!?
God was our attorney. We could not afford an attorney and did it on our own. After filing the I-485 God told us He had cancelled the interview. And He sure did. Twice we went for the marriage interview and basically didn't have one. The first time we went we were told the interview was cancelled. Why? We overlooked answering a RFE for I-130. We left feeling down but I remember the Holy Spirit said to me. "Do not speak of this to anyone. Do not speak negative." It took a lot of restraint but I did not speak about it to anyone for months. We were just coming out of a very stressful two years of tending to my father-in-law. He had a mental breakdown while waiting to receive his green card and was diagnosed with dementia. He hardly slept during the period. During the nights he did many strange things and was destructive. He would smash furniture, tear through the wall, rip out electrical outlets and basically anything he got his hands on. That caused us to go with very little sleep. Somehow in that period we overlooked a I-130 RFE in 2021. Instead of complaining or feeling sorry for ourselves, we accepted responsibility and started over the I-130 process. We did the application online and uploaded all documents at once. An apology and full explanation, with evidence, of why the RFE was not answer was also uploaded. Ten months later we were called for the interview. It really wasn't an interview. We were asked two simple questions about our relationship. And I was asked about my relationship with my stepson. I was then asked the series of questions on the I485. We gave them the most current tax return and an additional proof financial relationship. Most of the time was spent talking with the field agent. You would have taught we were old friends. Despite the approach the agent was still very professional. God had fulfilled His word to us. We did it on our own and did not understand some things but I am thankful for the journey. I learnt a whole lot from this process by reading the requirements on USCIS website and listened to the advise from several immigrants lawyers on YouTube. Especially the Boundless and McBean Immigration TV channels.
I pray ๐๐พ your request will be approved very soon. God bless you.
