Post medical RFE timeline. How long is the wait usually?
Hey, wondering if anyone has gotten RFE recently and heard back from USCIS. Here's my timeline:
04/10 medical RFE posted online
04/14 HA (RFE response received, 2:14 PM ET)
04/17 silent update (10:18 AM ET)
04/17 silent update (2:23 PM ET) - (latestResponseDate is updated to this time)
04/17 silent update (3:23 PM ET)
and then nothing til now

Once a medical RFE response is received, USCIS does not have a fixed processing timeline to issue a decision. Instead, the case returns to the adjudication queue after intake processing, and final review depends on background checks, officer workload, and whether all eligibility requirements are fully satisfied.
“Silent updates” or internal timestamp changes typically reflect case file movement or system updates rather than a substantive decision. USCIS must complete full record review before adjudication, which can take anywhere from a few days to several months depending on field office backlog. The key risk indicator is not the elapsed time after RFE receipt, but whether USCIS issues a new RFE, Notice of Intent to Deny, or interview scheduling update. Otherwise, post-medical RFE delays are generally normal and reflect final-stage review rather than a problem with the case.
