Portland Maine Field office
My EB-1A I-485 (ROW) case was recently transferred from NBC to the Portland, Maine Field Office (POM).
The interview is waived, and the case is under paper adjudication.
I’m trying to understand recent timelines or experiences for EB-1 / EB-based I-485 cases at Portland, ME FO — especially after transfer from NBC.
If anyone has gone through a similar transfer or has insight into typical processing time ranges, I’d really appreciate it.
Thank you!

@Salman Khalid Hi Salman, Portland ME is a smaller field office, so timelines vary and aren’t well tracked publicly. Some cases move fast after transfer, others take longer, and a few are completed without interview.
If this is an EB-based I-485 from NBC, I can help you read the transfer signals and estimate what’s likely next based on your priority date and case history. Feel free to contact me happy to take a quick look and give you clarity.

@Chelsea Wright hi .. thanks for your response. i was told my interview is waived and transferred to non local field office (Portland-Maine) for final adjudication . could you predict in that regard, what will be the possible processing timeline i am looking for .

@Salman Khalid thanks for the clarification. When an interview is waived and the case is transferred to a non-local office like Portland ME for final adjudication, most EB-based I-485 cases are typically completed within 4–12 weeks, assuming no RFE or security hold. Portland being a smaller office often helps.
For a more accurate timeline based on your priority date and category, I can take a look into your case for a review and I will break down what to realistically expect and next steps. If that works for you, let me know and I’ll share the booking details.
