Passport Expiry Date Conflict with Date of Intended Entry
Situation: We are in the NVC stage of processing and have submitted our DS 260. However, we noticed the expiration date for my passport is November 2024 and the NVC site says to be sure the passport does not expire within 6 months of the intended date to enter the US. Currently, we can estimate our intended date of entry to be anytime between March and May.
Question: Should I renew my passport once I have my visa stamped on it, and enter the US with both new and old passports? (is this possible) , or should I renew my passport now, having submitted my DS 260 with my current one, and go to the embassy interview with both passports, so they can stamp the visa in my new passport ( is this possible too?)
We have tried getting in touch with the embassy but we can only submit contact forms with no guarantee they will get back to us... so we have no idea how to get an answer to this.
Further Questions: Has anyone resubmitted their DS 260 before and did that slow down your processing a noticeable amount?
is it worth getting the new passport now or just get it renewed after entering the US as a permanent resident? #NVC #IR1 #CR1

renew it now! I don’t think they will issue a visa in a expire passport! they clearly said ensure your password is valid for 6 months beyond the experation date when you go to your consular appointment, so I suggest you to do it now. @ngomez * when you renew it upload a photo of the new passport in CEAC

where is your appointment? possible you will need to wait more than 6 months to get an interview letter. you can submit your application after NVC accepts documents, you can work on passport renewal until get interview. make some search if interview appointment will delay or not in your embassy
