Is your EAD application under C09 or C31?

I'm in the same situation. my EAD c31

@Ko ka if your EAD is C31 trust me you are not getting it until your vawa is approved and that’s gonna take years. I would advice you apply for c09 and hope it comes early cos my C09 renewal took a year.

you should reach out to congressman by yourself not your lawyer, Infact you shouldn’t let your lawyer know you reached out to congress nor letting congress know you have a lawyer. My advise. congressman might not follow you up knowing you have a lawyer while busy helping those who don’t have a lawyer.

@manny pop How can we reach the congressman? Should I contact the congressman of the state I live in or the congressman of the state to which I sent my file?

@Ko ka you need to contact the congressman of the state you live . Make research online of your congressman and email or call them .

thanks guys. @Ko ka I applied c31 then applied c09 - I think that’s how I got my AP but I’ve never heard anything back from them. tried to expedite in April they responded with a weird letter themed ‘informational’ addressed to my lawyer because it’s her who applied for me. frustrated. a month ago we contacted the congressman but still nothing. now I live in my car 😭😭😭

@Deby Bee hi, May I ask when your previous work permit ended? you mentioned that you applied for renewal a year ago but uscis accepts 6 months before the work permit expiration date.

Hi @skylar . oh yeah My previous EAD expired in July 2021. I submitted i360, i485, i131 and i765 renewal all together in April 2021. I only got approved for i131 in june 2021. Ead didn’t come , After waiting for a year, I later discovered my lawyer filed the ead based on vawa (c31) instead of c09 (which was the correct category) I had to apply for C09 in august 30 2022 and that got approved aug 30 2023.

@Deby Bee thank you so much for your response. I think your case is similar to mine - I am renewing my old EAD card expiring soon though I am applying under c9. sorry that you needed to apply for c9 later and took one year… did you pay for EAD renewal fee?

@skylar . I did pay all together when I submitted in April 2021 so I didn’t need to pay again when I refiled in aug 2022.
