@ob o @Emmanuel Imisi If you’re a Nigerian national inside the U.S. with a pending I-485, the biggest impact is USCIS processing, not the “travel ban” headline. 1) Your I-485 may be frozen (no final decision) CBS reported USCIS internal guidance telling officers to “stop final adjudication on all cases” for affected nationals and that the hold covers “all form types” (so: approvals/denials are paused). CBS also reported that Nigeria was added to the USCIS pause/hold list after the December 16, 2025 expansion. What you might see in real life: • Your case can sit “pending” indefinitely even if it’s otherwise ready to approve. • Interviews may be delayed/canceled, or you may be asked for extra vetting / re-interview before anything moves again. • It’s not just green cards—this is described as very broad (“all form types”). 2) Your EAD / Advance Parole renewals could also be delayed Because the guidance is described as covering “all form types” and stopping final decisions, it can also delay I-765 (work permit) and I-131 (travel document) decisions, not just the I-485 itself. So plan as if renewals may take longer than normal. 3) Travel becomes much riskier after Jan 1, 2026 The White House proclamation says entry of Nigerian nationals “as immigrants” (and also entry on certain nonimmigrant categories like B/F/M/J) is suspended, effective January 1, 2026. A key nuance: analyses note the entry-ban provisions are aimed at people outside the U.S. as of the effective date. Why this still matters to you: if you leave the U.S. while your I-485 is pending, you risk getting stuck outside or facing major complications when trying to return. I can’t tell you “never travel,” but don’t travel without legal advice given these December 2025 changes. 4) Hard truth: there may be no quick workaround CBS reported the hold remains until the USCIS Director issues another memo, and even requests to lift the hold for “extraordinary circumstances” need high-level approval. What you should do now (practical) • If your EAD/AP expires within ~6–9 months: prepare to renew as early as allowed and keep proof of pending renewal on you. (If you have an employer, alert HR early.) • Avoid international travel unless an immigration attorney confirms your specific risk profile and documents. • Stay hyper-responsive to any USCIS RFE/NOID/interview notice (deadlines still matter even if final decisions are paused). • Keep your address updated with USCIS and keep copies of all receipts/notices. If you tell me your I-485 basis (family, employment, asylum-based, etc.) and whether you currently have valid EAD/AP.

@soon approval 🙏🏿🙏🏿 thank you for the lengthy explanation but i already knew this. i just dont enjoy typing, that is why i generalized it as “green card applications”. my question is how true is this? cbs news is the original carrier of the info and they allegedly have a source in USCIS. why hasnt USCIS posted on their official site? why hasnt the president verbalized it himself? i have searched and i dont see any other source of information asides cbs alleged source in uscis (who is nameless btw) for the full ban list, i am aware of their application restrictions. just not aware if the partial ban application restrictions. Anyway, in all, it is well.

@soon approval. this is a lot fake news as long as it’s not official on government websites. people already inside who are not part of the 19 countries are still getting their cases adjudicated, please let’s stop misleading people.
