This is off the embassy website “An invitation is not required and cannot guarantee visa issuance. In fact, there are no required documents for tourist/business visa applications. Visa applicants must qualify for the visa according to their own circumstances, not on the basis of a sponsor’s assurance. Based on the application and interview, a consular officer determines whether or not the applicant qualifies for a visa.” They usually give parents visa with no problem. My mom did it couple years ago and was no problem and without any letter. Also, my in-laws did it with no letter. The application has enough spaces to provide the reason of the visit. Good luck

@adam, you are right. But the problem is in my home country, for covid situation US embassy only giving interview slot of visitors visa if someone has emergency reason to visit, that is why i need the letter.

Hey,I am in a similar situation.Pregnant and have a 9mo baby.Planning to bring my mom here on visitor’s visa.I talked to my lawyer,she said that “needing help with kids” is not strong case for them.All I need to provide is a letter saying that while my mom will be here she will be living with me and I will fully financially support her.Now my mom has to prove that she has strong ties to our home country,proving that she has stuff to come back to (which my mom does-she has business,2 daughters,(one of them is only 12)husband and both of her parents alive and need assistance occasionally.We are going to apply,but I already know that it’s not guaranteed.Even more-I am sure she won’t get it from the first try. but good luck to you,hopefully my story was helpful

My sister was having some medical issue and her doctor wrote that in the letter. My mother and I requested an expedited appointment to get the tourist visa and they approved it. A 10 year visa.
