Need Advice on Timing for I-485 Application After Asylum Approval
Hello Friends I recently got my I-589 (Asylum) approved. What is the best time to apply for permanent residency? I’m worried that the new administration may change the I-485 process for asylees. attorney advised me to wait 4 to 6 months, but a few people have suggested applying as soon as possible to secure my position in line. I’m really confused. Please help me! 🙏

The problem is that if you do it early you run the risk of being denied if your vessel is awarded in less than a year. My recommendation is that you wait 6 months because I have seen cases approved quickly in up to 3 months and also cases approved in 16 months. My advice is to wait 6 months.

If you file it now you approve before a year you will regret because you will have a lot think to do like her 👇 https://www.reddit.com/r/USCIS/s/LsxT5eNLzv

i suggest do it now but without medical. if they look in your case in 6 months than they will at least ask you to send the medical and give you another 2 months to reply back. you than according to your time send them as late as possible so they receive and check it in 30-60 days after receiving medical from you. the only concern is what if they see your application earlier than 6 months.

initially I was gonna wait for six months after my asylum approval and apply for I-485, however, because the new administration is coming to office my attorney advised we apply now. So I have applied even though it has been almost four months since asylum grant.

@viki hope No, I haven’t on purpose. My attorney says in case my application get adjudicated too early sending the medical will buy me some time.

@viki hope oh interesting. I submitted my application at the end of November and received the receipt notice. So I’m guessing it’s a requirement now for people filing after December 2. I believe I should not be affected but I will check with my attorney tomorrow.
