n400 travel.
I’m planning to travel around October. Has anyone recently traveled while their N-400 was still in progress? I’ve pretty much lost hope of getting my interview before then.

Yes I traveled before the interview
Once you are back just tell the dates to the officer and you will be fine.
nothing to worry about
bcz usually you will get notice of the interview one month beforehand but be back before the interview

Maybe get a flexible ticket incase your interview is randomly scheduled within your travel dates you can get a refund or rebook at no extra charge.

If you have a GC extension, make sure the Airline accepts the extension when coming back to the U.S with your expired GC. Lufthansa doesn't.

I’m on the same boat. I applied in Jan/2026 and bought tickets to travel internationally in October this year.
I got refundable tickets and booked hotels with flexible cancellation policies. My strategy is plan as normal, but think of plan B and C if things change.

I traveled several times with my extension letter internationally and I never had any issues, just being asked to show the letter when I get back home! you can provide your green card + extension letter + your US ID! unless you have felony or criminal records you are safe to travel within the limits of course.
Verify IATA Timatic: If the airline agent is hesitant, kindly request that they check IATA Timatic (the official database airlines use to verify travel documents), which explicitly states that an expired Green Card accompanied by a valid I-797 extension notice is acceptable for boarding.

what’s extention letter ? I have 10 year GC
Isco GhaJul 16, 2026
@Ous B Lufthansa didn't let my wife check in on our way back to the U.S. We had to book with other airlines the next day!
@a a If you have the 10 year GC then you don't care about this.

I Summited on Nov 24. I traveled on january 25 for 4 days. my interview was on March 25. He asked me if I was out of the country DURING MY WAITING TIME and HOW MUVH. I THINK YOU DONT HAVE PROBLEMS JUST BE CAREFUL WITH LONG TRIPS AND REMEMBER THAT YOU CAN RECEIVED YOUR INTERVIEW FOR THAT TIME.
