on the USCIS website we should apply 3 months earlier for citizenship or after residing 4 years and 9 months in US. my question what happens if we apply 6 months or even more earlier. I was told by lawyer 6 months earlier is fine. any experience?

90 days before the 5 years if you’re no doing it off your spouse or 90 days before 3 years if you’re still married.

it’s not 3 months before. it’s 90 days before. if it’s earlier the application will get rejected at the interview.

Only 90 days early to your 5 years consecutive residency—or to your 3 years if this is based upon marriage to a U S citizen. Otherwise your application would be rejected. If you try to file online, the website would not move forward. And if you file on paper by mail, it will be rejected once the USCIS verifies the inconsistency. It is then better to wait for the right time to apply. I had that anxiety, talked to a couple of lawyers, and all of them shared the same answer I am now sharing with you. Do not waste your time and money to rush for something that is not gonna work because they will reject it right away; believe me. Hope this comment helps.

@P Brugelle I got 10 years green card on 2021 got married on 2019 can I apply for citizenship this year?? Ty

That’s not true. Only six months earlier not earliest that that. The system will not allow you to do that.
