LPR, stay outside USA?
Hello community, I am permanent resident of USA and will apply for naturalization in 2025. Can someone confirm me how long can I stay outside USA in a year? I read/hear somewhere it’s 3 months and somewhere 6 months. Also, how does USCIS calculates the year? is it the calendar year or the month you were granted permanent resident. in my case I received green card in September 2020, so will my year count from September 2020? I appreciate your response.

if your a PR living outside of the USA for more than 12 months you risk losing your PR status. but it is more than that also. Do you file taxes in the USA and maintain that, have you or do you intend to abandon your residency for USA, how long do you intend to reside outside of the USA. many other factors are part of the equation. https://www.uscis.gov/green-card/after-we-grant-your-green-card/maintaining-permanent-residence https://www.uscis.gov/green-card/after-we-grant-your-green-card/rights-and-responsibilities-of-a-green-card-holder-permanent-resident

Thank you @Car B and @Bayano for responding to my post. I am planning to travel to India and I am going to apply for I 130 for my spouse. Since she cannot travel to USA with pending I 130 I wanted to how long I can live in India with her without jeopardizing my PR and naturalization process down the line.
