Since this is for L2, is it true that one is allowed to work without an EAD upto 180 days?

in certain types of visas. my EAD only expired on the 5th of Feb and I’m on maternity leave so it hasn’t mattered for me. L2 holders don’t need EADs anymore if their I-94 is updated to show L2S.

hi Olivia, congrats on your L-2 EAD approval. I will be going through the same situation this year, as my current L2 EAD will be expired in Sep, during my maternity leave. Do you know if 1) One can still get paid and enjoy the employeement benefit during maternity leave afrer her EAD expired? 2) if you didn’t have L-2S on your I-94 before, can you get L-2S (no need for EAD) after L-2 extension?

hello yes you can 100% get l2s status and then not require EAD. my friend just went to Canada and back solely for this reason and she received her L2S on her return to the US. my EAD expires in July in line with my visa expiration but I will be renewing in July in the UK then returning and gaining my L2s on entry so I can go back to work august 1st

I’m not completely sure about your first point. I was only without for 20 days and it didn’t fall over a pay day so I still got paid in full

No. You need to go out and come back in so your I94 can be updated.
