Keep believing and praying!!
Hello everyone. I would like to just give you all some words of encouragement….. this is by far one of the hardest things to get through because of all the steps and the long wait (little over 2 years). Please continue to pray and believe that God shall push you forward. My husband (from Nigeria) was approved 2 weeks ago and arrived yesterday to the states. Glory be to God!!!!!! Don’t give up the fight and goodluck!!!!!! Documentation/pictures are everything!!!!! #wefiledwithoutalawyer

Sorry for the late response…..If you’re asking from the USCIS point 1yr…..total 2yr for it all. Thankfully it only took 9months to get approval from the USCIS. Please make sure spouses visit more than one time and keep all documentation such as flights (itinerary and boarding passes), pictures (lots of pics-from video chats, with family, visits, and wedding), chats, phone calls, marriage certificate, and proof of income and make sure the income is enough and if not get a sponsor to help. Provide anything that can help your case. Nebraska was the office we used.

congratulations Tamara, my husband is from Nigeria too and we filed our I-130 in November, 2023. We are hoping and praying we will be hearing soon. They received our paperwork on November 22, 2023 and our case was actively being reviewed on December 29, 2023. This is our second time applying because we got denied the first time. We haven’t seen each other for 3 years and we are so anticipating being together. we talk every day 3-4 times a day and I want to go to Nigeria again but it’s so expensive and very hard to save the money to go because I am here alone and working to pay my bills. I have a question to ask you and I hope you can help me. After the approval how long did you have to wait for your husband to come to America? I am hoping that the NVC is not a long wait after the approval. Again I would love to congratulate you and wish you and your husband all the best.

@Debby Goodwin as soon as they have their interview at the Embassy they will know if they are approved or not and it only took 5 days to receive the Visa. My husband flight was the following week after he picked the visa up. The longest wait we had was for the interview because they paused for student Visas. They will want to know why you haven’t been back over there and if you only been once, go back again. They will tell your spouse you need to come again if you only visited once and if it was a long gap since you’ve been there they will question that. The officials at the Embassy do not play and you never know which type you will get. Some are friendly, some ask many questions, some ask few questions, and some are very stern. So I advise you all to do all you can to prove your marriage and love for one another. The officials are trained to do what they do. My husband watched people being denied and asked many questions. I just want everyone that is truly married for the right reason, to make it here. The distance between spouses is really hard!
