@vida mochia…. first you have to file a I-129f petition with the USCIS… gather all supporting documents (pictures together, gifts, receipts text messages, letters, social media posts etc) to show the relationship is is legit… once you do that USCIS will forward the case to rhe NVC and the NVC does their checks and background checks. Once they do that they send it to your fiances embassy and you schedule the interview and boom….

congrats, its amazing that your fiance got an interview in 3 months after your petition is approved, I’m hoping our case will be as quick as yours, our petition just recently approved June 1st and it is still seating at NVC due to embassy backlog sinvce March 2020 appointments. Praying that it will clear and will get an interview appointments in a few weeks

@vida mochia they will ask for more if its not enough… we overloaded them with evidence so that we wouldnt run into any delays with them asking for more evidence

overseas embassy is in Manila, its now 60 days that our approved petition is in NVC..now Manila just announced that they will go thru another lockdown for 20 days.. so frustrated, while all the employees at the embassy are vaccinated but still if its the local govt announced a lockdown then there’s nothing we can do but wait… for real Manila Philippines Embassy are far worst overseas embassy ever… been away for so long already…

With ours, we didnt have to turn anything in. They just did their background checks and such and then they sent our case to my fiances embassy… typically, you send all your civil docs to the NVC if im not mistaken.

@Angela Quirino… my fiance is from Grenada in the Carrbbean…. when we did our process and interview it wasnt mandatory for her to get the covid vaccine. but i have heard they will be making it mandatory going forward for all immigration cases… we didnt work with a lawyer because we felt it wasn’t necessary. we did it all together alone because sometimes lawyers are inaccurate and miss details

@Angela Quirino we turned the DS-160 in to my fiances embassy when she went for the interview, thats what she needed to show for it along with the 129f package and other civil documents

Troy green.....is it Grenada embassy or barbados?? 7 months time period in the pandemic is unusual. what was your PD?? seems like different embassies have different rules when submitting documents because u didn't have to turn anything in for them to send to their embassy. everyone else's petition takes over 10 months to be approved.

@Troy Green…..We got approved and İ got the letter ın the maıl last week. Now what do we do? do we call for NVC # for startıng to submıt thıngs or do we waıt, ıve heard mıxed thıngs about ıt. My lawyer sayd we can call but typıcally we waıt for NVC to send letter? YAYY!!!!! im so happy to hear that!! So now you will have to wait for the NVC to reach out to you with you NVC letter and so on. you can call but theyll just tell you that their not on your Case date just yet, thats what happened when i called a few times. i think you can go to their site ans check wich period date theyre working on. from what ive seen they work pretty fast! when our case reached the NVC, within 30 days they reached out to us with the letter and what to do next.

@Nique Tabouri…. yes it was the embassy in Barbados. i was quite shocked at how fast they pushed our case through especially during the pandemic…. i didnt have to turn anytning into the NVC all they did for us was check her background and then they sent her Petition to Barbados and then within a two weeks Barbados sent us the steps to take to submit fees, sign up for an interview and to tell them we were ready for the interview. it

so does that mean you sent in documents that they didnt ask for in the first round? because usually they will say do not send other documents not initially requested? because you will have to do it all over again. this includes tax returns your own civil documents......

@Angela, his was quicker because the embassy had openings for visa appointment. I'm waiting since Oct 13 in NVC and the embassy still didn't tell them to send over the documents yet so I can get my welcome letter and prepare my paperwork

@angela yes ask if they can give you an invoice number and case number. the case number begins with the first 3 letters of the country then the year 2021 then some other numbers. they told me I have to wait until the embassy in my husband's country ask to send over the documents if they have visa opening spots. so I want to call the embassy to ask them 😆. but what can you do with the number without a welcome letter anyways? I don't know how long they're gonna take to open a visa spot 😞

its based on when the uscis sends over the documents to the NVC and what period/cases the NVC is working on based on when they received the cases. the best option is to check that link i sent and see what dates theyre working on right now.

Awesome glad their processing for case now. So during this step, they will do their background checks and if they need any other documents they should let you know but i would still check in with them every other week or every week if you have to. Once they do they background checks and have everything they neeed, they will send the petition to your fiances embassy. they will let you know by email if you signed up for the email notification by sending your NVC electronically. Once the embassy has your case or once they send over the case to the embassy, give it about two weeks and call the embassy to see if they received the petition. once they confirm they got your case then they should send you a packet of readiness to sign up for the interview date and payments. this is what they did for us. it was super easy but at the embassy stage its all on their time so wait for that notification of readiness.

Our interview was super easy and super fast.. our questions were 1. where did you meet 2. when did you meet 3. how did you meet 4. did you meet family 5. when was the last time you saw your fiance After those questions, they gave us the green approval slip and that was it, we sent in her old passport and visa and they sent her passport back with the new k1 visa in it https://citizenpath.com/k-1-fiance-visa-interview-questions/

Also i wouldnt set the medical until you have an interview date because the medical has to be done no more than 3 days (72 hours) before the interview if im not mistaken for it to be valid… once the nvc sends in the petition to the ebassy i think you should be able to fill out the ds-160

@Troy Green hı what do you need at k1 ıntervıew? ds-160 fılled out what docs dıd you send your Fıance for her ıntervıew? and when dıd she get her packet from Embassy? confusıng ty aq

So when she went she had basically a copy of our original K1 packet we filed. hell need the ds-160 confirmation page printed, he will also need a copy of his appointment page confirmation and all other identifying docs, passport, visa, birth certificate, recent police record. and so on. he will also need a copy of your financial tax transcripts to show he wont be a burden on the system and so on. you will have to get a eployment letter showing you employment, statement from the bank to show money in your account (when it was opened and how much you have in there currently) basically showing good standing…

When the embassy received our packet it was the peak of the pandemic and they stopped taking cases and out of no where they started taking cases again and within 2 -3 weeks (probably not 3 weeks) but it wasnt long

You (and any eligible children applying for K-2 visas) must: (1) complete Form DS-160 and (2) print the DS-160 confirmation page to bring to your interview. DONT FORGET THE MEDICAL!! It cant be more than 72 hrs old before the date of the interview

@ Troy Green ty so so much! so, we got the NVC emaıl/letter sayıng they sent case to Ankara/Embassy. we see on ceac websıte “READY”. People are actıng wıth these two thıngs before•. So the best thing for you to do is to 1. Email the embassy explaining that you got the NVC notification that the NVC sent the petition to them (the embassy) and that you are wondering what the next steps would be, make sure you out the case number in the subject area. 2. call them and explain the same thing and get verbal confirmation about next steps. 3. or you can wait for them to contact you which i dont think you should. at least contact them once a week just to check up and check your emails and mail and such! you got this! youre at the final leg of this stretch!!!! Hold the faith you got this. i was there not too long ago

When filling out the DS-160 make sure you take your time and do it… triple check to make sure everything is good

And also remember when scheduling the medical it needs to be within 72 hrs of your interview. and check that link i sent you so your fiance has all the documents he will need and will Garauntee a GREEN SLIP!! Youve got this?

Okay so if you log in to the ceac and it says ready, try to set your appointment and if it allows you then great. There is no number for your embassy? that is odd? try to set it and call them and tell them you set the appointment because you were able to. Dont give up youre sooo close!! And since you have the lawyer, put him to work ask him have him call too because thats what youre paying him for!

Yeah you would need to write up a new letter of intent to marry, if you have the first one just use that one and change the date to a recent day and have him bring that. Also if you have any recent pictures together compile those into a document as well and have him bring that as well. (screenshot video calls, outings together, etc)

YAAAAYYYYYY!!!!!! Im sooooo happy to hear that!!!! i told you just hold on because you got this!!! Now when he comes you have 90 days to get married! Once gou get married you can file for adjustment of status (I-485). Work Authorization (I-765) and Travel Authorization (I-131 if he needs to travel again before his green card comes). The good thing is you can file all of these all at the same time and send them to the same place and pay just one fee!! When we did it, we paid $1225 which is good considering the price of each individual application!!

Oh and once you get married you have to apply for a social as well… with the social there are two ways you can get it. 1. when you get married and you receive the marriage certificate you can bring all the supporting docs like passport, his visa and birth certificate to show proof of id and the marriage certificate once you get it, it’ll take roughly 4-6 weeks to get it, but he wont be able to work on just the social he will need the work authorization (I-765). the second way to get one is when you are applying for adjustment of status (green card I-485) on the application it self theres a section that asks if you have ever received a SSN from the US, if so put yes and write the number, if not, you can authorize them to create you one and send it when they are sending you everything else. the fastest way to get the SSN is to just go to the office and appy. but honestly right now he wont even be able to do anything with the ssn BESIDES getting credit cards and so on which is a good thing. when my wifes SSN card came i put her on all my cards and opened our joint accounts so she could start building credit and within a month her score was 774!! so thats the benefit of getting a ssn early. also it will look good when youre filing adjustment to show your marriage is real

Im sooo hapoy for you!!!! youre on the last big leg!! So when you go to uscis.gov you can get all the forms that you want to apply for I-485 (adjustment of status), I-765 (work authorization) and I-131 (travel authorization if he needs to travel abroad again) and if you file it all at the same time, you are going to send them all to the same place and the USCIS will handle the rest. when youre sending them in be mindful if you use USPS It has to be send to a different Dropbox than of you send it with UPS/FedEx/DHL

Yes all you have to do is download the forms, take your time and fill in all the info gather all of your documents, updated photos together, financial document (employment stubs, job letter, tax returns), updated intent for citizenship letters etc. and gather your payment methods, we did checks and havent had any issues just as long as the money is there. fingers crossed we havent had any RFEs so thats good. Im happy you guys are together and happy!!!!! congrats on marriage!!!

They sent us an email. Then they mailed it to us via DHL

It probably took about 3 weeks or so at that point
